BSNL Cellone is one of the biggest cellular service provider in INDIA.Even though they are very huge, most probably the biggest mobile customer base in INDIA, their service is not up to the mark.Espically the customer care and Addon services (including the GPRS service) is very bad .BSNL Cellone was one of the 1st providers who started providing GPRS in INDIA.Although time passed many other companies came in market and due to the competition the price of GPRS was reduced by others,BSNL Cellone never bothered to review their 2 year old GPRS rates ..A freaking Rs 20 per MB (Approx 50 cent /MB). Anyways atleaset the speed is good,Lets move of to the settings part.
BSNL Cellone have introduced many ways to provide their customers an “automatic configuration download system” ,By using these you can directly download the settings from the internet to your mobile phone without any charge.(Although god knows why , they never ever informed their customers about this feature :-/ ) . Great post. Without well-wishers like you, what would happen to the support divisions of giant corporations.
Hi,
This is really helpful post but only accessible if somebody searches through google or any other search engine. BSNL should provide such links to customer.
Anyways, thanks a lot for putting such things on net.

You can surf the BSNL portal for free.You don’t need any special settings .just open “wap.cellone.in” from your default mobile browser (Don’t use any 3rd party program like opera or teashark )
i opened wap.cellone.in but it deducted my balance!!!!! i didnt click any link on that page i just opened the page and then disconnected it and my balance got deducted. i used bsnl east as i am from calcutta.
That’s weird :/
I am accessed the same site from Mumbai But nothing was deducted from my balance.Try contacting Customer care.

Very useful post. BSNL actually have started putting in the details in some form or other. Following is a link to a word document having the settings for South zone.
http://www.ap.bsnl.co.in/mmsgprs/wap.asp
I just got GPRS enabled on my BSNL post paid. Received confirmation through SMS.
Am able to browse the celloneportal accesspoint. However, the wap doesn’t work. I am in roaming, in Hyderabad. My local number is of Bangalore. I called customer care and they say that GPRS in South when roaming is “not possible”. Can anyone help, I need this going urgently.
Hello sampath,the customer care is correct.BSNL doesn’t provide GPRS service while roaming.I am facing the same problem in Mumbai,My GPRS doesn’t work when I roam in MTNL region
Thanks for the quick response Sumeet. I got to know about this after talking to, like 15 times, to them. Now going through the de-activation of the service as it is of no use for me if I cannot use in roaming.
Thanks again for the help.
Hi friend… there is an error here. For bsnl east uses d APN for wap is : celloneportal instead of http://www.e.pr . If http://www.e.pr is used dan you will be charged..

hi! i hv nokia 3110c and i have set these settings and no problem in browsing, but problem is that when i try to install operamini 4.2 on mobile,after completing abt 70% every time, it shows an error “temporary internet problem”, then “Failed to connect internet”.
similar problem is with “yahoo! go”
@Pankaj
If you are using CELLONE_GPRS Setting then try browsing through CELLONE_WAP or vice-versa.
@ratnakaratm
Try the manual configuration according to your region.
Also try Reconfiguring the phone by deleting the present configurations.
I have configured by incoming mail as eth, and i have set dataone as my outgoing. iam able to recieve my mails from eth, and when i try to send a mail, it gives the message as Internet Server not found. . i have also downloaded and saved the settings. Please help me to send mails from my mobile….

Hello Mr. Sumeet,
First i Thank u For the Wonderful Service u are providing. Its Really Helpful for us. I Have a Nokia E-71 Mobile,and I Have Configured the Mail from the Settings provided by BSNL Customer Care, With That settings I was only able to receive My Mails from eth. Will it be Possible for me to Configure My Dataone id as the Outgoing Email Id. If possible what is the Setting I Have to Give.Please help me Doing this. Thanks for u in Advance.
Hai Sumeet,
I can’s help saying it is really helpful. Even the BSNL customer care people do not know about this. I went many times to BSNL to get GPRS settings to my phone. They told me to send an SMS to a number but I cound not send that SMS due to technical problems. I brought this into their attention and they told me they could do nothing more than that except I fill the settings manually and even if I fill the settings manually, there was no surety that things would all be right. Then while surfing the net,I accidently came across your site and got the valuable information. I used it and I got the GPRS settings into my phone in 2 minutes and I started getting the net in my phone. Thank you very much.
Hey Sumeet..
I was having a trouble with this damn Bsnl Gprs service..

I have a basic doubt. Does a phone have to have a modem for WAP ? Also whats difference between bsnl-wap and BSNLEWAP ?
@Peter
You will need a wap enabled phone to use the WAP use internet on phone.A phone with builtin modem is required if you want to use your phone to connect to internet.
BSNLEWAP probably stands for BSNL WAP FOR EAST ZONE
Hi,
i have SE K550i.
i did the settings as given above, but still am not able to access the net. For accessing the internet, which profile has to be used?? the gprs one??
Thanks!!
@Ankit
You will have to activate GPRS on your phone before using it.Call the CC to activate GPRS.
For browsing net on phone use the wap settings
To use internet on PC use the GPRS settings
